Simon is in training to be a Special Olympics mount for Dawn Manning’s son Bryan, who suffered a traumatic brain injury eight years ago. Simon seems to sense Bryan’s condition, and displays remarkable patience and gentleness with him. In turn, Bryan has gained confidence and learned to be calm and precise when working with him, Manning says. “It’s a match made in heaven,” she says, noting that Simon (JC: Moccasin Dancer) joined their family in October 2014. Jockey Club to honor top OTTB at Rolex

The Jockey Club will present a High Point award this week to the top-performing Thoroughbred to compete in the fabled Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event, an award symbolizing the achievement of ex-racehorses in new careers and their incalculable worthiness. For the fourth consecutive year, the top-performing Thoroughbred will receive a fine leather halter with a brass nameplate denoting the High Point Winner, and a long ribbon featuring Jockey Club colors of navy blue, hunter green, and white.
