Rood & Riddle names sport horse of the year
Thomas Edison, a 14-year-old show jumper, was named the 2012 Rood & Riddle Thoroughbred Sport Horse of the Year last month following a sensational season in the show jumper ring with rider Maggie Jayne. The fifth annual award was presented during the annual Thoroughbreds Owners and Breeders Association (TOBA) Awards Dinner Sept. 6 before an audience of 400 owners and breeders. Jumping without tack, pair takes 1st place
USDF silver medalist Chesna Klimek and off-track Thoroughbred Solar walked away with the win at the Emerald Downs trainer challenge last month after she rode the beautiful black horse over a jump— bareback, and without a bridle. The pair took first place in the 100-day Trainer Challenge, after outperforming other competitors in two divisions— the in-hand demonstration, and a three-and-a-half minute freestyle completion, which featured the daring jump.
