Summer Wessinger-Prehoda was always a big Warmblood fan until she met her OTTB, Western Diamond. Her first horse, she purchased the 2003 gelding by Western Boarders in 2012 and re-named him Southern Gentleman. After which, they worked through several training issues before she declared him to be her “diamond in the rough.” Though he has now been retired, due to a suspensory injury sustained at the track,  he has a happy home with her. “I don’t think I will ever find a horse so sweet or lovely,” she says.

In this photo, the pair competes at the Virginia Starter Trials last March, where they finished 2nd in the Advanced Green division. “They make a great team learning Eventing together!” says Evan’s mother Kara Clark.

She adopted the OTTB from ReRun, Inc. in April 2012. “I saw him and fell in love. He was my first horse in 24 years that I owned. He’s so sweet, gentle and quirky that everyone at the farm, especially kids, loves him,” she says. Nicknamed Dog for his puppy personality, JJ got his hooves wet with schooling shows in 2013.
