$100K OTTB makeover project gains key sponsor

The Retired Racehorse Project (RRP) and Thoroughbred Charities of America (TCA) jointly announced last week that TCA will be the title sponsor of the Thoroughbred Makeover and National Symposium, which will be held at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Ky. on October 27-30. Stakes horse Delay of Game dies at Old Friends

GEORGETOWN, Ky. – Graded-stakes winner Delay of Game has died. The 23-year-old gelded son of Summer Squall was euthanized on the evening of June 6 due to the infirmities of old age. The horse also suffered from the neurological disease EPM. Delay had been pensioned at Old Friends, the Thoroughbred Retirement Farm in Georgetown, KY, since 2010. Michael Blowen, founder and president of Old Friends, made the announcement of his passing this morning. Owned by John H. Signed jockey goggles offered at Preakness

The Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance (TAA) and the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund (PDJF) have come together to offer signed jockey goggles as a part of a joint fund-raising effort. The goggles, signed by top-class jockeys, will be available as a souvenir in exchange for a donation to be shared between the two organizations. The TAA and PDJF will be offering the goggles on site at Pimlico Race Course on Black-Eyed Susan Day (May 20) and Preakness Stakes Day (May 21).
