Kissing Spine surgery a success, pain gone!
Dr. Christy Cable, DVM, DACVS, announced this week that the novel Kissing Spine surgery she performed seven weeks ago on back-sore Thoroughbred Heartly Smart, previously diagnosed with the disease, appears to have completely eradicated the mare’s pain, and potentially reshaped some of the trouble-spots in the spine. “Overall, I am very happy with her progress,” Dr. Cable says. “Her back is 100 percent pain-free right now.” Cable adds, “At this point, I would say that I am cautiously optimistic that Heartly Smart’s back pain is going to be manageable going forward,” and that she will be able to carry the […]
Jockey Club honors Rolex-bound TBs
During the annual Thoroughbreds for All celebration near the Kentucky Horse Park April 26, the team of 17 will be feted by luminaries in the horse world, including Olympic rider Phillip Dutton and Hall of Fame jockey Chris McCarron, both of whom will participate in educational sessions about Thoroughbred sport horses, according to a press release from New Vocations.
