Mandy Minger, vice president of marketing for the Daily Racing Form and president of the Turf Publicists of America, has joined the New Vocations Racehorse Adoption’s Board of Directors.

In a press release issued on Nov. 22, Anna Ford of New Vocations announced her arrival while citing Minger’s extensive work with horse charities such as the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation, Old Friends, KY. She noted that Minger will make an excellent addition.

“We are excited and feel very blessed to have Mandy Minger join our board,” Ford says. “She brings a wealth of experience as well as Thoroughbred industry connections that will surely help our program continue to grow.”

Minger, who has served as a guest speaker at the University of Arizona’s Race Track Industry Program and has been profiled in Horseplayer Magazine’s Women in Racing series, says she is delighted to serve New Vocations.

“It’s a great honor to be named to the New Vocations Board,” Minger says. “I began my life-long love of racing when I was given an off-track Thoroughbred as a teenager and feel passionately that all racehorses deserve a comfortable life after their track days are over. I’m looking forward to joining the New Vocations team where they work tirelessly and have found much success in rehoming our retired equine friends.”

Meantime, New Vocations notes it is on target to accept more than 400 retired racehorses into its program in 2013, the third successive year it has welcomed this many.
Once the horses are rehabilitated and retrained, New Vocations plans to find them good homes.
With facilities in Kentucky, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Michigan, New Vocations has led the nation in racehorse adoptions. The program receives horses from over 30 different racetracks working directly with owners and trainers in need of racehorse aftercare. With newly generated funds and heightened industry awareness New Vocations hopes to continue to expand its mission over the next few years by increasing their intake of horses.
