Thank you for 2012; and Happy New Year!

Me and Hat TrickDear Readers,

Thank you so much for all the support you have shown during 2012. It’s been a great year for the growth of our blog, and we owe so much to every one of you.

As we usher in 2013, we do it with the strong purpose of helping with words and stories to continue to lift up the image of the once-maligned Off-Track Thoroughbred, and demonstrate their courage, beauty and talent as sporthorses.

As we look forward to the year ahead, we want to say a special thank you to those who have helped this blog so much in 2012.

Horse-advocate Deborah Jones of California, and Thoroughbred trainer Lisa Molloy have provided invaluable assistance in story coverage.

Jen Roytz of Three Chimneys Farm has offered great story suggestions, and the veterinarians of world-renowned Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital have been tremendously helpful in providing answers on horse health in an ongoing Veterinary Answers column.

Jessica Paquette of Suffolk Downs has been supportive from the beginning, and new friends, like Ann Banks of Kentucky, John R. Murrell of Texas, and Mindy Lovell of Ontario have been tremendously helpful.

Then there are the amazing organizations who I’ve had the pleasure to work with! New Vocations and Re-Run, Inc., CANTER, Akindale Thoroughbred Rescue, Steuart Pittman and the Retired Racehorse Training Project, Old Friends and Exceller Fund, and I could name many more, have all made it easy to find a great horse to write about!

Thank you to those who have been with me since the beginning, in March 2010, and to all who have found their way here since.

A Happy and Healthy New Year to Everyone (and our beloved Thoroughbreds)!

Thank you for writing so many uplifting stories about OTTB’s. It’s wonderful to see so many people rallying behind these horses to prove their worth. I’m looking forward to 2013 being a year filled with more fun and challenges for Halawa Moon (Harley) and I as we try new things.

Susan, congratulations on another year of encouraging pieces on horses. Sometimes good news is hard to find, but your blogs are certainly happy ‘tails’! Thanks for caring, thanks for writing.

Happy New Year to you, too, Sue! I look forward to every single one of your blog posts. You have such a great way of shining light on the STORIES of the offtrack Thoroughbreds that you write about. I think when people read these individual stories, one at a time in such a personal and thoughtful way, they realize just how wonderful these horses really are. And how amazing it is to see the networks of people out there who really care and who move mountains on a daily basis to help them find safe homes and in many cses, new careers. Blog On, Sue, your devotion to these horses and those who love them is a powerful gift, and I thank you for sharing it with all of us!

Happy New Year to you. I am sending a donation to Denise Mathews who has Limeheart after reading her incredible rescue and road to recovery. I wish it could be for all, but I’m a believer that if one can be saved a little will hopefully go along way. Raising awareness for these incredible equines is so important and I thank you for that. Keep up your fine work in 2013.

Happy new year, Susan! May your blog continue to be the bright side of the mature Thoroughbred saga and may there be WAY too many stories for you to write because so many have bright futures in 2013 and forever!

You know, everybody thinks we found this broken-down horse and fixed him. But we didn’t. He fixed us; every one of us. And I guess in a way, we kinda fixed each other too….unquote …Seabiscuit ..the thoroughbred that could! Thoroughbreds…the look of eagles & a heart made of angel’s wings. For the ride of your life!

    Happy New Year Susan.

Happy 2013 to you, Susan, and to all your loyal readers! I have recommended your blog to people who are considering OTTBs as possible “new horses” for themselves and I’m sure they are getting as much education as they are entertainment AND assurance that this is the right thing to do. Keep up the good work!!

Happy New Year to you! Your blog has been full of such uplifting stories and has also been very eye opening and educational for me. I love reading about the good things that are happening with humans and horses, saving them, retraining them, new careers or just retiring to a pleasant life. Off Track Thoroughbreds is always a heartwarming read! I Think my favorite of the year is Point Given Sons reuniting! I look forward to many more! May you have a wonderful 2013! Thank you Susan!

Happy New Year Susan! Thank you for the work you do. I had decided to buy an OTTB before I found your blog, and started to read it while I waited one month for delivery of “Breaking The Rules” a.k.a Wilbur last March. I love my Wilbur, and continue to read your blog on a regular basis. He hunted like a pro this (his first) season, and we’re schooling now for our first eventing season. Look forward to your future postings, thank you!
