I have never personally ridden a TB but I’ve always heard that they are dedicated horses that when started right will not let you down. I ride an apendix quarter horse who has many characteristics of one and he is a dream to ride. Someday I would like to get an OTTB to use for hunter-jumper.

    What a great story!

I agree that the Thoroughbreds are under-appreciated (not to mention maligned and often misunderstood)! Bar has so much try in him, I just had to figure out how to tap it. Now that I have, it’s up to me to find new challenges for both of us.

We haven’t tried jumping, yet–his injury and my inexperience are a bit of a hurdle (pun intended)–though I hear tell he did clear a 6-foot fence once to get to horses on the other side.

Jumping may be way down on our bucket list, but I applaud Godsoe and Judge Beautiful for the mark they are making. Kudos!

    Wow! What an inspiration!

Off track horses are one of a kind. They have so much to offer. Their heart alone is something special!

Thats great ! My ottb gelding has jumped 3,6 with rider and free jumped 4,5 but i dont think he will ever be the jumper I need him to be to reach my dreams. But he will make some little kid a great starter horse. I just love otttbs.
